Liz is a true native Washingtonian. Born in the Seattle area, she grew up the proverbial horse crazy girl, but she didn’t get her first horse until 1996. She spent much of her childhood riding friends’ horses, and taking care of friends’ animals once they went off to college.

While attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, she studied Graphic Design and Illustration. She mucked stalls for an Arabian breeder and trainer one year for cash for those art supplies. She also did a stint as a Riding Specialist at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island over one summer.

In 1995, Liz attended a King County Model Horse Farm Project farm tour at Noelle Richard’s farm in Enumclaw, where she met Alayne.

In 1996, Liz purchased her first horse, CA Royalty (aka Ariel) and a small farm in Hobart (Maple Valley), WA.

In 1997, Liz met Ben Clark at Crystal Mountain ski area and were married there in 2000. In early 2003, they started the search for a larger place and found it in Enumclaw, WA. They had their son, Jackson later that year and also added Buster the yellow Lab to the family that Christmas.

In 2004 they purchased Buena through an equine rescue organization working on a killbuyer/dealer lot, where she was one stop short of being sent to be slaughtered for human consumption. Liz and Buena try to spread the message about unwanted horses and the fight to prevent the slaughter of horses to be served as a delicacy abroad.

Liz enjoys spending time with family, alpine skiing, riding in Buck Brannaman clinics with horsey girlfriends, and she aspires to return to endurance riding within a few years.

The Clarks are planning to add new horses to their herd in the coming months.

See more information about the Rockin’ Circle C and haying in western Washington on their demo farm page.

Over the years she has worked with Alayne in various capacities, including helping out with classes, but for the most part being Alayne’s “web goddess” and publication designer.
