Alayne Renée Blickle


Alayne, a life-long equestrian, is passionate about horses as she is about the environment. She and her husband live outside of Seattle, WA (USA) where they raise AQHA horses on their 10-acre farm and compete in reining events. Alayne is the creator and director of Horses for Clean Water. Alayne has MA in Public Visual Communications and a BA in psychology and natural sciences, with post-graduate work in photography and educational technology. She’s been an environmental educator working with livestock owners for over 15 years and is a contributing writer for national and regional horse publications including John Lyons’ The Perfect Horse, Equus and Northwest HorseSource. She speaks and does presentations for a national audience including natural resource agencies, horse groups and individuals across the country.

Alayne Blickle Receives Green Globe Award on Earth Day

The Green Globe Award is King County’s highest honor for businesses, organizations and individuals who have gone the extra mile in environmental stewardship and have participated in one or more Department of Natural Resources and Parks programs. Award winners are considered the ‘best of the best’ and awards are bestowed only every two years. On Friday, April 22nd, the Green Globe Award Ceremony was the centerpiece of King County’s Earth Day Expo activities at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle.

County Executive Ron Sims presented Green Globe Awards to William Ruckelshaus, Eastside Fire & Rescue, Wendy Walsh of Woodinville, the Trust for Public Land, Dr. Sally Brown and Dr. Check Henry of the University of Washington, the late Joel Kuperberg of Vashon Island, FuelCell Energy, Inc., Alayne Blickle of Horses for Clean Water, Port Blakely Communities in Issaquah, the Evergreen School in Shoreline, AAA Washington, Honeywell International in Redmond, YK Products of Everett, and the RE Store in Seattle.

Alayne Blickle, Director of Horses for Clean Water, received the Leader in Resource Management Award for her efforts to conserve resource lands and promote innovative agricultural or forest management practices that protect the environment.


Alayne Blickle and Horses for Clean Water Receive Partnership Award from the Snohomish Conservation District

On February 2, 2006 Alayne Blickle and Horses for Clean Water (HCW) received the Snohomish Conservation District’s Partnership Award for “being an outstanding partner to the staff, supervisors and cooperators of SCD.” Over the past few years, HCW has partnered with the Snohomish Conservation District on five grants that have funded workshops, farm tours and educational materials.
