Is your middle-schooler interested in horses? Sign them up for our ½ day horsemanship camp at Sweet Pepper Ranch, a small-scale guest ranch and horse motel. Owner Alayne Blickle is an accomplished equestrian and educator. This program for youth provides a brief introduction to horses and horse care using the ranch horses.
We start out with a ranch tour, discussing responsibilities for owning and caring for horses and the land. Other topics covered include: horse safety, horse behavior, anatomy of the horse, grooming, and tack. Fun horsey games and hands-on activities included. In our outdoor round pen, we will do a supervised leading session. Safety will be emphasized and all participants are required to wear long pants, socks and hard soled shoes. Helmets will be provided for the riding portion. Please dress warmly. Afterwards, kids return to swim at the Nampa Rec Center.
PLEASE NOTE: the emphasis for this program will be on fun and learning about horses; this is NOT a riding program.
Ages 11-14: March 28-30, 8:30am until 2:00pm (no school days). Depart & Return: Nampa Rec Center; pack a lunch, horse riding apparel, and swimsuit. Members $125, Non-Members $132.
